I’m Tyler Rel, a live music photographer based in Billings, Montana, and the person behind GetRel Photography.
Music is what pulled me into photography in the first place. The lights, the crowd, the split seconds where everything lines up, that’s where I’m most at home. I focus on capturing live shows the way they actually feel: loud, fast, emotional, and real.
As a Montana photographer, I photograph concerts, touring artists, and music venues across the Big Sky State, working with promoters, venues, and artists who care about authentic visual storytelling. I’ve photographed live music for Logjam Presents, including shows at KettleHouse Amphitheater and The Elm, as well as for 1111 Presents at The Pub Station, and the beautiful Pine Creek Lodge, as well as many other venues throughout Montana, and a wide range of local and touring musicians. I’m comfortable shooting everything from intimate rooms to large outdoor amphitheaters and arenas, always adapting to the energy of the room. One of my favorite part about the job is documenting the green room hangs for the artists and capturing memories for them to share.
Beyond music, my work extends into cannabis, events, real estate, product e-commerce, landscape and commercial lifestyle and brand photography, but live music photography remains the heartbeat of what I do. My photography has been featured in Weed World Magazine, High Times, on the front page of the Billings Gazette, on the Visit Montana tourism Instagram, and on the cover of Simply Local Magazine in Billings to name a few places you might have seen my work.
I’ve also worked with Downtown Billings and Montana-based businesses, bringing the same approach I use at shows into brand and commercial projects: honest moments, strong composition, and imagery that doesn’t feel staged or does feels staged if we are doing product photography.
